Watch: Suryakumar Yadav put on a show in the second India-South Africa T20I, smashing Kagiso Rabada all around the ground on his way to a record-breaking half-century.
There were plenty of India batters to put up big, fast scores at the Baraspara Cricket Stadium, but none went bigger or scored faster than SKY, who hit 61 off 22 before being run out while in partnership with Virat Kohli.
He reached his half-century off just 18 balls – only KL Rahul and Yuvraj Singh have reached the milestone off fewer deliveries – with the highlight his five-ball demolition job of Kagiso Rabada. First he used his wrists to helicopter the right-arm quick over the leg-side boundary. Then two fours came, the first driven over the off-side and the second pulled over fine leg, with a single inbetween. He ended with another six, a full toss helped on its way.
In the course of his innings, SKY brought up 1,000 T20I runs, taking just 573 balls across his career to do so. No other cricketer in history has reached four figures in fewer than 600 balls faced.
India, leading 1-0 in the series, put up 237-3 in their 20 overs.
