Watch: Adil Rashid bowled an outstanding spell in the T20 World Cup final, with the highlight being his third over, a maiden which began with the wicket of Babar Azam.
The leg-spinner finished with figures of 2-22 from his four overs, capping off a special finish to the tournament, with him also taking 1-16 v Sri Lanka and 1-20 v India in England’s last two games.
He began his spell in perfect fashion, dismissing the dangerous Mohammad Haris. From then on he was basically unhittable, with only a succession of twos putting any sort of damage on his figures.
Babar had got himself set, but was denied the chance of a big score by Rashid. He wound up for a big shot, only to be checked in the stroke by a gripping googly. Outfoxed, he could only fence at the ball, with Rashid taking an excellent diving return catch.
The rest of the over was just as good, with Iftikhar Ahmed unable to lay a bat on Rashid’s perfectly pitched leg-breaks.
While he eventually conceded a boundary in his final over, he ended with praise being sung from all corners.
