Thirty-six of the 38 teams featured in the 18 matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022/23 on November 13, 2022 – here is a list of who won, and who did well.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022/23: Group A (in Delhi)

Against Manipur, Samarth Vyas of Saurashtra (200) became the fifth batter to score a double-hundred in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, after Prithvi Shaw (227*), Sanju Samson (212*), Yashasvi Jaiswal (203), and Karn Veer Kaushal (202). Vyas added 282 for the opening stand with Harvik Desai (100) to take Saurashtra to 397-4. Dharmendrasinh Jadeja then took 7-10 (third-best List A figures by an Indian), after Shahbaz Nadeem and Rahul Sanghvi) to bowl out Manipur for 115.

Elsewhere, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh beat group favourites Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat to leave the points table wide open.

Saurashtra 397-4 in 50 overs beat Manipur 115 in 41.4 overs by 282 runs. Uttar Pradesh 139 in 41.3 overs lost to Himachal Pradesh 140-5 in 36 overs by 5 wickets with 14 balls to spare. Gujarat 281-6 in 50 overs lost to Chandigarh 284-4 in 48.5 overs by 6 wickets with 7 balls to spare.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022/23: Group B (in Kolkata)

Karnataka rode on Nikin Jose’s 96 to put up 314-7 before Viswanath Kaverappa and Vasuki Koushik reduced Vidarbha to 51-7. That Vidarbha did bat out 50 overs was due to Akshay Karnewar’s 104 not out. Delhi, Jharkhand, and Rajasthan won their respective matches comfortably.

Sikkim 110 in 42 overs lost to Rajasthan 115-3 in 17.4 overs by 7 wickets with 194 balls to spare. Karnataka 314-7 in 50 overs beat Vidarbha 248-9 in 50 overs by 66 runs. Assam 163 in 39.4 overs lost to Jharkhand 166-2 in 35 overs by 8 wickets with 90 balls to spare. Meghalaya 216-7 in 50 overs lost to Delhi 219-2 in 32.2 overs by 8 wickets with 106 balls to spare.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022/23: Group C (in Bengaluru)

Tamil Nadu and Kerala had predictable easy wins, but Haryana had to fight for their win. After gritty lower-order batting helped Haryana recover from 125-5 to 222-9, Chhattisgarh were placed comfortably at 107-2. Seam bowler Jaideep Bhambhu then took 3-39 to trigger a collapse, and Chhattisgarh were bowled out for 171. Elsewhere, Darshan Misal powered Goa to a win with a 62-ball 107 not out.

Arunachal Pradesh 102 in 29.3 overs lost to Kerala 105-1 in 10.3 overs by 9 wickets with 237 balls to spare. Andhra 205 in 45.3 overs lost to Tamil Nadu 206-1 in 32.1 overs by 9 wickets with 107 balls to spare. Haryana 222-9 in 50 overs beat Chhattisgarh 171 in 40.2 overs by 51 runs. Goa 329-6 in 50 overs beat Bihar 241 in 46.5 overs by 88 runs.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022/23: Group D (in Mumbai)

Jammu & Kashmir won easily, as did Odisha, despite getting bowled out for 224 against Nagaland. After Uttarakhand piled 255 in the third match, Punjab were reduced to 21-3 before Mandeep Singh, their captain, scored an unbeaten 100 to see them to a six-wicket win.

Jammu & Kashmir 282-6 in 50 overs beat Baroda 188 in 43.2 overs by 94 runs. Uttarakhand 255 in 49.1 overs lost to Punjab 256-4 in 45.4 overs by 6 wickets with 26 balls to spare. Odisha 224 in 48.3 overs beat Nagaland 89 in 35.5 overs by 135 runs.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022/23: Group E (in Ranchi)

Bengal had an easy win, but Railways had to fight after Paras Dogra (102) took Puducherry to 289-9. The chase was set up by Shivam Chaudhary, but Sridhar Ashwath (4-55) kept striking until an unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 25, in 13 balls, saw Railways through.

The shocking result came in the other match, where Mumbai got 264-9 (Yashasvi Jaiswal made 104) and still lost by eight wickets after Shubham Rohilla (135) and Ravi Chauhan (100), the Services openers added 231.

Mumbai 264-9 in 50 overs lost to Services 266-2 in 45.3 overs by 8 wickets with 27 balls to spare. Mizoram 57 in 21.2 overs lost to Bengal 59-1 in 6.2 overs by 9 wickets with 262 balls to spare. Puducherry 289-9 in 50 overs lost to Railways 290-7 in 49.1 overs by 3 wickets with 5 balls to spare.
