India and England will clash in the inaugural edition of the tournament, at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, at 1345 hrs local time (1145 GMT/1715 IST) on January 29.
In their respective semi-finals at the same venue, India restricted New Zealand to 107-9 before chasing down the target with 34 balls to spare, while England, after being bowled out for 99, shot out Australia for 96 to pull off an incredible win.
India started the tournament with comfortable wins against hosts South Africa, the UAE, and Scotland in the league stage. In the Super Six, they crashed to a defeat after Australia bowled them out for 87, but they hit back to beat Sri Lanka easily and qualify for the semi-finals.
For them, Shweta Sehrawat has amassed 292 – the most in the tournament – at a strike rate of 141 while being dismissed only twice. Captain Shafali Verma has got her 157 runs at 201, while Parshavi Chopra (nine wickets, economy 3.76) and Mannat Kashyap (eight wickets, 4.70 an over) have impressed with the ball.
England, on the other hand, are unbeaten in the tournament. In fact, their first five matches – against Zimbabwe, Pakistan, and Rwanda in the league stage, against Ireland and the West Indies in the Super Six – were all one-sided affairs.
England captain Grace Scrivens is only three runs behind Sehrawat, while striking at 134. She also has eight wickets while going at a mere 2.88 an over. Liberty Heap’s 149 runs have come at 146, while Hannah Baker (nine wickets, economy 3.36), Ellie Anderson (eight, 3.18), and Sophia Smale (eight, 3.81) have been among the wickets as well.
