Watch: The 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal clash between New Zealand and Pakistan got off to an enthralling start, with the first three deliveries providing plenty of action.
Finn Allen started off the encounter with a four, smashing Shaheen Afridi’s first ball of the game for a boundary straight down the ground. The bowler, however, seemed to have made a comeback with the next delivery, with Shaheen and the Pakistan fielders appealing for an lbw. Umpire Marais Erasmus ruled Allen out, which the batter immediately reviewed. The replays showed an inside edge, which ensured Allen stayed on.
He could not capitalise as he was pinned lbw on the very next ball. The New Zealand opener tried to flick a fuller delivery by Shaheen but did not account for the swing, with the ball hitting him on his front leg. Erasmus again raised his finger, and Allen reviewed a second time in as many deliveries.
The umpire got it right this time, with three reds on the HawkEye, as Shaheen whipped out his trademark celebratory pose, with Pakistan getting an early lead.
