Watch: Haris Rauf snared the key wicket of Jos Buttler in the T20 World Cup final, nicking off the England captain to give Pakistan a huge boost.
England kept Pakistan to 137 in the field, and Buttler got off to a quick start in the chase, hitting Naseem Shah for a pair of boundaries and scooping the same bowler for an audacious six.
However, Pakistan came back into the game through their quick bowlers, beating the bat regularly. Rauf then claimed the vital breakthrough, a rapid delivery in the channel outside off nipping away from Buttler.
The opener fended at the ball, but could only manage a nick through to the Mohamad Rizwan, departing for 26 off 17.
“What a beauty from Haris Rauf,” said Eoin Morgan on ICC commentary. “Moves it away from Buttler, extra bit of bounce, carries easily to Rizwan. Pakistan are up and about.”
