The finalists of the recent 2022 Asia Cup will begin their tournament on October 23 against India at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. Before they take on the Men in Blue in the high-intensity game, they will play two warm-ups, both the Gabba in Brisbane.
They will begin the build-up to the T20 World Cup with a practice match against England on October 17, which will be followed by another game against Afghanistan two days later.
Pakistan reached the semifinals of the 2021 T20 World Cup, which was held in the UAE. After beating India in their opener, they went on win their next four matches and ended Group 2 on top of the table. New Zealand, Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland were the teams they defeated. Their first loss in the competition came in the semifinal, against Australia.
Batting first, Babar Azam’s side posted 176-4 on the board, which was chased down by Australia with one over and five wickets to spare.
For the 2022 edition, Pakistan have added Shan Masood to their squad for the first time in T20Is. The squad also features injured Shaheen Shah Afridi. The latter missed the Asia Cup due to a knee injury but is expected to be fit for the competition in Australia. Fakhar Zaman does not make the squad after an injury but has been picked in the reserves.
