Watch: Vernon Philander Shows He's Still Got The Goods In The Pakistan Nets
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Watch: Pakistan bowling consultant Vernon Philander rolled his arm over in the team nets at the T20 World Cup, with the former South Africa seamer proving the accuracy and skills haven’t left him since he retired from the game.

Philander’s last professional game came in January 2020, with the right-armer employed by Pakistan ahead of the T20 World Cup in a coaching shake-up. He claimed 224 Test wickets at 22.32, famed for his consistency and ability to nibble the ball, and he looked a handful for Pakistan’s Mohammad Wasim Jr. as he trundled in during a practice session.

There were several blocks, edges and false shots even amid some more convincing strokes, with the 36-year-old showing he’s still got the goods.
