Watch: Babar Azam’s father Azam Siddique was unable to control his emotions after Pakistan thrashed India by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup in Dubai.

Siddique, watching the game from the stands, was teary-eyed and could not contain his happiness as his son’s team defeated India in a World Cup game for the very first time. India, who had a 12-0 record against Pakistan in all World Cup matches (including ODIs and T20Is) prior to the match, were outplayed in all departments in their T20 World Cup opener with Babar leading the charge with the bat.

The captain had an excellent outing on the field with plenty of shrewd bowling changes throughout the India innings, which ensured that were restricted to only 151-7 from their 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan chased the target in just 17.5 overs without losing a wicket. Mohammed Rizwan was unbeaten on 79 off 55 balls, while Azam struck a fluent 52-ball 68 to take the team over the line.

In a video, Babar’s father is seen in tears, surrounded by ecstatic fans and supporters after the historic win at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
