Watch: India speedster Umran Malik was at his blistering best during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, picking up a four wickets against Maharashtra.

Umran, representing Jammu & Kashmir, bowled a brilliant four-over spell at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. He picked up four wickets, including the prized scalp of Ruturaj Gaikwad. Umran picked up a variety of wickets as well. His first was a rapid bouncer that hurried Gaikwad into his shot. The Chennai Super Kings opener, now an international cricketer, tried to pull but could only manage a top edge.

A few overs later, Umran castled Pawan Shah, and outwitted Divyang Hinganekar and Shamshuzama Kazi. Rahul Tripathi, who produced a match-winning half-century, was also troubled by Umran as he got the ball to seam off the surface sharply. The pacer’s performance would come as a refreshing sight for all Indian fans, considering the fast bowler is still only 22 years old. He has not enjoyed a strong start to his international career. But if this display is any indicator, it seems that the future is bright for him.
