Watch: West Indies wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva’s prophecy to Sri Lanka’s Dhananjaya de Silva came true in amusing fashion in the second Sri Lanka-West Indies Test.
The incident caught the attention of commentators, whot pointed out that an interesting contest between Da Silva and de Silva was taking place during the series. In the first Test, Da Silva was caught at first slip by de Silva off the bowling of Lasith Embuldeniya.
In the second Test, de Silva walked in after the third Sri Lanka wicket fell. Reminding him of the incident while he was taking guard, Da Silva told him, “You catch me, I catch you. That’s alright in cricket.” A couple of balls, later Da Silva got the opportunity to keep up his promise. The Sri Lankan edged a Veerasamy Permaul delivery and the keeper took the catch after a bit of fumble.
The commentators looking at the incident chuckled. “Da Silva returning the favour.”
After Sri Lanka won the first Test comfortably, the second is evenly poised after two days’ play. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 204, while West Indies replied with 253. At stumps, the hosts had cut the lead to just three runs, but had lost two wickets while doing so.
