Abrar Ahmed funny incident

Watch: Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed was involved in a funny incident with Sri Lanka wicketkeeper Sadeera Samarawickrama on day three of the Galle Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan that left Babar Azam & Co in splits in the dressing room.

Pakistan had responded brilliantly to Sri Lanka’s 312 in the first innings. They scored at nearly five an over on day two before Saud Shakeel put on a masterclass of batting with the lower order to stretch Pakistan’s lead to nearly 150. Saud also got his maiden double century in just his sixth Test match.

Saud helped Pakistan add 183 for the last four wickets, which included an entertaining 21-run last-wicket stand with Abrar, who seemed to enjoy himself during his 12-ball 10. He smoked a six and a four off Prabath Jayasuriya, and was involved in a hilarious incident with Samarawickrama, the Sri Lanka wicketkeeper.

Trying to defend a Ramesh Mendis delivery that turned back in sharply, Abrar managed to get it caught between the flap of his pad and his knee. In an attempt to get hold of the ball, Samarawickrama pushed Abrar out of his crease. Instead of resisting the push, Abrar played along and wandered way out of his crease.

When the ball dislodged itself from his pads and fell to the ground, Abrar realised how far down he had come and immediately rushed back to get inside his crease as Samarawickrama had come down along with him to gather the ball.

The incident left Babar Azam and the rest of the dressing room in splits. Abrar was finally dismissed trying to clear the leg side fence with another one of his hoicks. Sri Lanka came out to bat for a tricky little period of four overs and finished on 14-0.
