India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin lashed out at host broadcaster SuperSport after his dismissal of South Africa captain Dean Elgar was overturned after the batter reviewed the umpire’s decision.
The off-spinner seemingly brought a crucial breakthrough for his team in the 21st over of the South Africa run chase – Elgar was pivotal in the Proteas’ successful chase at The Wanderers, striking a superb 96 not out. Standing umpire Marais Erasmus gave Elgar out but the Elgar chose to review the decision. Ball tracking showed that the ball was going over the stumps, which led to a number of animated reactions from the India players.
Among them was Ashwin, the bowler who missed out on the wicket, who had some words to say to the host broadcaster.
He walked up to the stump microphone and said, “You’ve got to find better ways to win, SuperSport.”
