Watch: Deepak Chahar picked the last four wickets of the South Africa A first innings in a fine display of swing bowling.
During the third ‘unofficial’ Test between South Africa ‘A’ and India ‘A’, Chahar bowled a relentless spell to knock out the South Africa A tail. South Africa A were 238-5 at one stage before Saurabh Kumar got the sixth wicket, in the form of Khaya Zondo. While India A continued with their spinners for a couple of overs, soon they handed over the ball to the fast bowlers.
India A also took the new ball soon after. And the call had the intended effect.
Chahar was at his best, getting the ball to jag in and move out at will. He played with the batters, getting one to move in, and swinging the next one out. Eventually, Sinethemba Qeshile ended up edging one behind the stumps.
The very next ball swung in and crashed into Migael Pretorius’s pads. However the umpire didn’t give it, despite the fact that the batter had offered no shot. Chahar would have his revenge the next day.
When the game resumed the next day, he bowled a flawless in-swinger which came back just in and disturbed Pretorius’s bails. The South Africa batter couldn’t do anything about the dismissal.
The very next over, he got rid of Prenelan Subrayen with a massive in-swinger which crashed into the batter’s pads. And in the next delivery, he also got the tenth wicket of South Africa A innings, with yet another in-swinging delivery. He finished with 4-45.
