The domestic first-class competition is getting towards its business end. With the group stages complete, eight teams are left to fight it out for a place in the final and a chance to win the trophy. After the quarter-finals are done and dusted by February 3, the semi-finals will kick off on February 8, before the final which starts on February 16.

While the venues for the quarter-finals have been decided, with Kolkata, Rajkot, Bengaluru and Indore all hosting matches, the venues for the further rounds are still to be confirmed.

Karnataka had a strong group stage of the competition and go into the knockout stages unbeaten, while defending champions Madhya Pradesh dominated with five straight wins before their only loss against Punjab – who also make the quarter-finals. Delhi’s Dhruv Shorey and Kerala’s Jalaj Saxena might be the competition’s leading run scorer and wicket taker respectively, but neither will feature in the knockout rounds after both teams failed to qualify.

Prithvi Shaw has this year’s competition’s highest individual score after smashing 379 off 383 against Assam. It was the second-highest score ever in the Ranji Trophy and the highest by a Mumbai batter.
