Nearly 1,300 runs were scored for the loss of just 14 wickets across two innings in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match between Lahore Whites and Karachi Whites at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, including a double hundred by Sarfaraz Ahmed.

In a record-breaking run-fest, the game between Lahore Whites and Karachi Whites witnessed six individual centuries being scored, including two double hundreds, one of which came off the bat of former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Lahore were put into bat after losing the toss. Their openers put up a 153-run stand. One of them, Ali Zaryab, scored 222 off just 313 balls at a strike rate of more than 70. Ahmed Shahzad, Saad Nasim, and Fahad Munir scored fifties as Lahore finished on 509-9.

Noman Ali picked six wickets for Karachi, but conceded runs 162 runs in the process off his 48 overs.

Karachi’s innings was a rather spectacular one in response. Seven batters batted. Six crossed fifty. Five of them crossed a hundred, and one of them crossed two-hundred.

Khurram Manzoor and Ammad Alam, the two openers, both scored centuries (110 and 102 respectively), stitching a 168-run partnership. Asad Shafiq scored 113 batting at No.4.

However, it was the sixth-wicket partnership between Rameez Aziz and Sarfaraz that stole the show. They stitched an unbeaten 351-run partnership which saw Sarfaraz reach his second first-class double hundred (200 not out) and Aziz reach his sixth first-class ton (151 not out).

Karachi finished on 784-5 when the players shook hands and accepted a draw. As many as five Lahore bowlers bowled more than 25 overs each. Nasim was the only one to get more than one wicket (2-112).

Karachi’s innings broke the record for most individual hundreds scored in a single team innings in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, making it the first time that five batters crossed the three-figure mark together.

After this game, Karachi are at the top of the table with 48 points from three games.
