Watch: Mohammad Wasim, a 20-year-old right-arm quick, caused excitement in the first Pakistan-West Indies T20I with an inch-perfect yorker to knock over Nicholas Pooran.
Playing just his eighth T20I, Wasim delivered a toe-crusher that another Wasim would have been proud of. Pakistan were ahead of the game, having set West Indies 201 to win and taken the wicket of Brandon King, despite losing captain Babar Azam for a duck early on.
However, the explosive Pooran was threatening to mount a fightback. He had smashed a four and two sixes in racing to 18 off nine balls, leading the charge as West Indies captain. His tenth delivery faced would bring about his downfall.
Bowling over the wicket to the left-handed Pooran, Wasim located the blockhole with devastating accuracy, the ball crashing into off-stump even as the batter attempted to block the ball.
From then on, it was all Pakistan. Wasim continued to target the stumps, finishing with figures of 4-40, his second wicket lbw and his last two both bowled. The hosts triumphed by 63 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
The second game of the Pakistan-West Indies T20I series takes place on December 14, at 1pm GMT.
