Mohammad Rizwan pulled off a stunning effort to run out Rassie van der Dussen in the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and South Africa in Karachi.
Van der Dussen was batting on 17 when Aiden Markram, his batting partner, drove one firmly off Faheem Ashraf towards mid-off. The batsmen set off and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam got across and fired the ball towards the keepers’ end, well wide off the stumps but within Rizwan’s reach. Rizwan gathered the ball as he hurried towards the stumps, and dived straight to remove the bails, catching the batsman, who had lost his bat while running, well short.
The dismissal seemed like a throwback to Jonty Rhodes’ famous fielding act to run out Inzamam-ul-Haq at the 1992 World Cup.
