Watch: Mark Chapman produced one of the great T20 hundreds, helping New Zealand chase down 194 to secure a series-levelling victory against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

Chapman’s unbeaten 57-ball 104, his second ton in all T20s, counted for more than half of New Zealand’s total, with James Neesham’s unbeaten 25-ball 45 being the only other score above 20 in the tourists’ innings.

The innings was especially incredible considering New Zealand looked down and out at 26-3 in the fourth over. And even though they recovered to be 73-4 at the halfway mark, the mounting run rate required a remarkable recovery, one that was provided by Chapman and Neesham through their 121-run stand.

Chapman hit 11 fours and four sixes, including three boundaries in a single over off Faheem Ashraf (11th over) to set things in motion. From the start of the 11th over till the end of the 15th, New Zealand notched 77 runs. Three more fours followed in the 18th over, from Chapman against Shaheen – the last ball of the same over brought up three figures for Chapman.

Two balls into the 20th over, New Zealand had completed their 100th T20I win. Skipper Tom Latham called the knock “the best innings a lot of us have ever seen”.

Earlier in the game, Pakistan set up a 194 target courtesy of an unbeaten 98 from Mohammad Rizwan. The Black Caps win levelled the series 2-2, with the fourth game having been washed out. Chapman was named Player of the Series, his scores reading: 34 (27), 65* (40), 16* (9), 71* (42) and 104* (57).
