Watch: There was a moment of mirth in the third Pakistan-England T20I, with Mohammad Rizwan and Haris Rauf sharing a laugh with Harry Brook after the ball became lodged in the England batter’s helmet grille.
The youngster was unperturbed, going on to smash an unbeaten 81 off 35 balls as England racked up 219 in their 20 overs.
The humorous incident occurred in the 17th over of the innings, with Rauf bowling and Brook facing. Brook attempted to pull a short delivery down the leg-side, only to deflect the ball upwards towards his own face.
Brook’s helmet spared him a potentially nasty injury, with the ball hitting his face protector with such force that it became lodged between two bars of the grille. Brook appeared confused for a moment, wondering where the ball had gone, before being embraced by Rauf and Rizwan as they jokingly grasped for the ball.
Rauf and Brook were teammates at Pakistan Super League franchise Lahore Qalandars in 2022, with the Englishman enjoying a breakout campaign.
“The game is being played in terrific spirit,” said Mark Butcher on commentary.
