Watch: Shan Masood ran out Reece Topley with a direct throw to help Pakistan claim a thriller by three runs in the fourth T20I against England.
An absorbing T20I ended with Masood holding his nerves in a clutch situation, running out Topley when England needed four in five with one wicket in hand. England’s last pair Adil Rashid and Topley needed to get four runs off the last over, bowled by Mohammad Wasim Jr.
The 20th over began with a dot ball, as Topley only managed to jab the ball towards the fielder at mid-wicket. The striker, however, set off for the run on the next delivery as he looked to steal a tight single after nudging it towards Masood at mid-wicket. The Pakistan fielder was swift, running in to pick the ball before diving and aiming directly at the stumps, giving the hosts a narrow win.
Chasing 167 to gain a 3-1 advantage in the seven-match T20I series, England collapsed to 14-3 before the lower order stitched together crucial partnerships. However, Pakistan picked up two wickets in the penultimate over, ensuring England went into the 20th with the last pair.
