Watch: Babar Azam equalled Virat Kohli’s record as the fastest man to reach 3,000 T20I runs by clubbing Richard Gleeson down the ground for six in the sixth Pakistan-England T20I.
The Pakistan captain reached the landmark after notching his second fifty-plus score of the series against England. Babar has scored his runs across 81 T20I innings and is only the fifth batter to reach the figure. Virat Kohli reached the same milestone in 2021 also against England, and also off 81 innings, and is the second highest T20I run scorer behind India teammate Rohit Sharma.
Babar’s crunching blow off Richard Gleeson sailed over the long-on boundary and was dropped by a spectator before he finished unbeaten on 87 off 59 deliveries. The captain led his side to a total of 169-6 for England to chase despite Pakistan being without Mohammad Rizwan, the leading run scorer of the series going into the fixture.
If Pakistan secure victory they will claim the series win with a game to spare.
