Rehan Ahmed created history on the first day of the Karachi Test by becoming England’s youngest ever men’s Test cricketer.
Ahmed took first wicket as an England player came courtesy of a fine catch by Ollie Pope at short leg. Saud Shakeel, Pakistan’s second leading run-scorer in the series, was the victim, inside-edging a leg-break to Pope who lunged forward to collect the ball just before it hit the ground.
It was a brilliant set up by Ahmed. The 18-year-old beat Shakeel’s outside edge with a sharp googly the previous delivery and followed it up with a leg-break that honed in on the same spot but turned in the opposite direction.
The ball induced an inside edge and Pope did the rest.
