Pakistan v England squad, 2022 Test series: Full team lists | PAK v ENG

National Stadium Karachi Pakistan Test match
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Pakistan and England have both announced their Test squad for the three-match series in December 2022 – here are the Pakistan v England 2022 Test squads.

Pakistan have rewarded seamer Mohammad Ali and spinner Abrar Ahmed – both uncapped – for their consistent performances across two seasons of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Other interesting inclusions are Haris Rauf, who has had a stupendous career in limited-overs cricket so far; and Zahid Mahmood and Mohammad Wasim Jr, who were both in the squad for the Australia series at home but were left out of the Sri Lanka tour that followed. Notable omissions include Yasir Shah, Fawad Alam, Hasan Ali, and the injured Shaheen Shah Afridi.

England recalled opener Keaton Jennings after he finished as the leading run-scorer of Division One of the County Championship, along with Ben Duckett, Mark Wood, and Jamie Overton. Uncapped Will Jacks got a call-up, but more surprising was the recall of Liam Livingstone – member of England’s T20 World Cup winning side – for the first time since England’s New Zealand tour of 2017/18. Stuart Broad opted out of the tour.

England last toured Pakistan for a Test series in 2005/06. They lost that series 0-2. However, they played seven Twenty20 Internationals in Pakistan earlier this year.
