Australia gear up to play three Tests against Pakistan from March 4 with a full-strength squad at their disposal. The first Test of the series will be played at Rawalpindi, with the second and third matches taking place in Karachi and Lahore respectively.
The visitors, who will be led by Pat Cummins, had a last-minute injury concern as Michael Neser was ruled out of the series due to a side strain, which he suffered during the March One Day Cup, Mark Steketee was called in as his replacement. There are no major surprises in the squad, with Josh Hazlewood making a return after recovering from the side injury that ruled him out of the last four Ashes Tests to find a place.
The hosts too have had their encounter with injuries ahead of the series, after Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali were ruled out of the first Test due to their respective injuries. Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim Jr were given late call-ups. Faheem and Hasan are both expected to be available for the second Test, beginning on March 12. Pakistan will also be without Mohammad Nawaz, who has been ruled out due to a foot injury. The Babar Azam-led side have not called for the left-armer’s replacement.
