NZ vs Sri Lanka: New Zealand take on SL in a two-Test series at home
by Wisden Staff 3 minute read

Sri Lanka take on New Zealand in a two-match Test series, hoping to edge out India and face Australia in the World Test Championship final: here’s where to watch the NZ vs SL series live on TV channels and live streaming portals.

The task Sri Lanka face is extremely difficult: they have to win both Tests to whitewash the hosts if they stand a chance of reaching the final. Historically, they have a poor record in New Zealand, winning just two Tests in 19 attempts, the last of which was in 2006. Their only series win came in 1995.

Based on current form, though, they will fancy their chances: they’re currently placed third on the WTC table, while New Zealand are eighth. They’ve been undefeated in their last three Test series [1-1 draw each with Pakistan, Australia and Bangladesh], although they did lose 2-0 to India in March.

New Zealand will still have the dramatic one-run victory over England on their minds. Termed one of the greatest finishes of all time, the result in Wellington levelled the series 1-1. It had little bearing on New Zealand’s forgettable WTC title defence but also highlighted their extended home dominance. Since a defeat at the hands of South Africa in 2017, New Zealand have not lost a single series at home.
