Pakistan are in New Zealand to play five T20Is. Having suffered a 3-0 loss in the Test series in Australia recently, Pakistan would like to bounce back in the shorter format under a new leadership group.

The NZ vs PAK T20I series will mark the first assignment of Shaheen Afridi as captain. He will be supported by Mohammad Rizwan, who’ll serve as his deputy. Kane Williamson, meanwhile, will lead the hosts.

The two teams have met 34 times in T20Is with Pakistan having the edge over New Zealand. The Men in Green have registered 20 victories out of the 34 games, while the Blackcaps have managed only 13 with one game ending in a no result. In New Zealand, however, the hosts have fared slightly better, winning eight out of the 15 T20Is played between the two teams.

The five matches will be played across Auckland (1st T20I), Hamilton (2nd T20I), Dunedin (3rd T20I), and Christchurch (4th and 5th T20Is) between January 12-January 21.
