England will take on New Zealand in a two-Test series starting February 16 – Here is the NZ vs ENG schedule, including the full fixture list and match timings for the tour.
England come into the series high on confidence having defeated Pakistan away from home. Ben Stokes’ troops won that three-game series 3-0, continuing from where they left off after their home summer. Almost all of the England batters looked in good form in Pakistan, with the likes of Ben Duckett, Harry Brook and Zak Crawley scoring hundreds.
Their bowling attack also looked in fine fettle. Ollie Robinson gave an excellent account of himself alongside James Anderson. Matthew Potts and Stuart Broad have returned to the squad for the series against New Zealand to complement the duo of Anderson and Robinson. Jack Leach has been selected as the primary spinner, with Will Jacks filling in as a spin-bowling all-rounder, if required. Jacks made his debut in Pakistan, claiming a memorable five-for in his first outing.
New Zealand’s last red-ball assignment, meanwhile, was also away to Pakistan. Unlike England, though, they could only draw that two-match series 0-0, with both games going down to the wire. Tim Southee will continue leading the side. Kane Williamson, as always, will be key for the hosts, alongside Daryl Mitchell, Devon Conway and Tom Latham in the batting order.
Kyle Jamieson also makes his long-awaited return from injury. Blair Tickner, Matt Henry and Neil Wagner form part of the squad, with Ish Sodhi being the only frontline spinner. Michael Bracewell, who is a very handy lower order batter, provides the other spin-bowling option for the Black Caps.
The 1st Test will take place at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui before the caravan moves to Wellington. The Basin Reserve will host the second Test of the series.
