The Trans-Tasman rivals will play a two-match Test series from Thursday (February 29), with the first game being held in Wellington. The second match, beginning on March 8, will be played in Christchurch. The two Tests will begin at 9am local time.
Australia have not lost a single Test in New Zealand in 31 years. The Black Caps last won a Test match against their neighbours in March 1993 at Eden Park, when Danny Morrison picked up 6-37 in the first innings. They also have the upper hand in the last 31 years across conditions, with Australia winning 23 of 31 Tests played between the two sides with New Zealand winning just once, in 2011.
Australia have a full-strength squad at their disposal, led by Pat Cummins, with Steve Smith as his deputy. The defending World Test Championship winners have also announced their XI for the game and will go in with an unchanged bowling attack from the series against West Indies. Cummins will spearhead the attack along with Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon.
New Zealand, on the other hand, Devon Conway will miss the opening Test due to a thumb injury. Tom Latham will partner Will Young, as a result. The hosts will also be without Neil Wagner, who announced his retirement on Tuesday. He will be with the squad for the first Test before being released ahead of the second.
