Watch: Nepal’s Kushal Bhurtel saved a certain six before throwing the ball to the wicketkeeper to run out the Netherlands’ Vivian Kingma in a brilliant passage of play during a T20I between the two sides today (March 2).

Striker Roelof van der Merwe hit a full-toss ball by Dipender Singh Airee over long on for what seemed like the second six of his innings. However, a running Bhurtel had other ideas: just as the ball was about to land over the ropes, he jumped up and sent the ball back into play, saving a certain maximum. He did not stop there: he quickly gathered himself after falling, ran towards the ball and threw it to the wicketkeeper’s end.

By this time, the two batters, seemingly not expecting the series of events, completed a run after Bhurtel’s save but found themselves at one end while running the second. Wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh whipped off the bails to run out Kingma, bringing an end to the Netherlands’ innings.

The team was dismissed for 120 in 19.3 overs in their second match of the tri-series, also featuring Namibia. The Netherlands are the only unbeaten team in the competition thus far.
