Kevin Pietersen has posted a video on Twitter disproving MS Dhoni’s claim that the former England batter was his first and only Test wicket.

The pair shared a jokey exchange during an IPL 2017 game, with Pietersen telling the then-Rising Pune Supergiant star he was a better golfer than him via his mic’d up teammate Manoj Tiwary.

Dhoni replied with a dig in his own, reminding Pietersen: “you are still my first Test wicket.”

Years later, Pietersen has gone out to reveal this it not quite the case. Dhoni did bowl at Pietersen during India’s 2011 tour – a series better remembered for Alastair Cook’s 294 and Stuart Broad’s first Test hat trick – and even had Billy Bowden adjudge the batter to be caught behind.

As the 42-year-old Pietersen has now shown, the decision did not stand, as he reviewed it straight away. It then became apparent Dhoni had now found the edge, the sound Bowden had heard was bat hitting pad, and the decision was overturned.

Pietersen went on to score a double hundred as England won the game and series comfortably, while Dhoni finished his career without a Test wicket.

The former England batter tweeted this video with the caption: “The evidence s clear! I was not Dhoni’s first wicket. Nice ball though MS!”

He did take one international wicket in a career that spanned over 500 games, dismissing West Indies batter Travis Dowlin in the 2009 Champions Trophy.

Dhoni’s less-than-prolific bowling record is forgivable considerable given that he was involved in 829 international dismissals, the third most of any keeper after Mark Boucher and Adam Gilchrist.
