IPL 2024 auction: Most expensive players
Mitchell Starc: INR 24.75 crore (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Mitchell Starc has joined the Kolkata Knight Riders for a sum of INR 24.75 crore, making him the costliest player in IPL auction history. An intense bidding war ensued between KKR and Gujarat Titans for the left-arm seamer, who went to his former franchise. Starc was bought by KKR in 2018 but an injury ruled him out, and his last appearance in the league was in 2015.
That's a GRAND return to the IPL for Mitchell Starc 😎

Pat Cummins: INR 20.5 crore (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Pat Cummins secured a significant deal with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, fetching INR 20.5 crore. He now ranks as the second-most expensive player in IPL auction history. Cummins’ leadership qualities are highlighted by Australia’s victories in the World Test Championship and the 50-over World Cup and it is likely he will lead SRH in the next IPL.

Daryl Mitchell: INR 14 crore (Chennai Super Kings)
Mitchell showcased his prowess with 552 runs in 10 games during the 2023 World Cup and has maintained a steady performance record across various formats for New Zealand. Known for his proficiency in handling spin, he holds the potential to excel on the sluggish surfaces typically encountered at Chepauk in Chennai.

Harshal Patel: INR 11.75 crore (Punjab Kings)
The Indian quick was the most expensive Indian in the auction and is one of the best exponents of slow bowling. Harshal, who was the Purple Cap winner in 2021, conceded 7.66 runs an over in 2022 but proved to be expensive last year and was released by RCB.
Alzarri Joseph: INR 11.50 crore (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Considering RCB’s bowling woes, they desperately needed a fast bowler to partner Mohammed Siraj and it was no surprise that they went all out for the West Indian. Joseph has picked up 16 wickets in nine T20Is this year, averaging 21.06 but has an economy rate of 10.36.
Holds the IPL record for the best bowling figures ever 🔥
