The BCCI has made changes to the schedule of two matches in the 2024 IPL after the local police in West Bengal raised concerns over providing security in Kolkata on April 17, the day of the Kolkata Knight Riders versus Rajasthan Royals fixture at Eden Gardens. The match will now be played the day before, on April 16.
As a result, the match originally scheduled for April 16, between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium, has been pushed forward a day and will be played on April 17.

Why were the IPL matches rescheduled?
According to reports, the Kolkata Police wrote a letter to the CAB President Snehasish Ganguly communicating their failure to provide security on April 17 due to the Ram Navami celebrations that fall on that day.
The other option was to play the game a day later, on April 18 but that option was shot down due to the General Elections. West Bengal will commence the first phase of polling on April 19 in Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri, which made hosting the match on April 16 a more viable choice.
Gujarat, on the other hand, will have polling in just one phase, on April 23, which allowed them to host the game on April 18.
