Watch: Virat Kohli falls to pivotal Venkatesh Iyer diving catch in the deep, tosses bat in dejection

Watch: Virat Kohli was distraught with himself after he pulled a short ball towards the boundary, only to see Venkatesh Iyer grab a stunner at the boundary rope during an IPL 2023 clash today (April 26) against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kohli, who was once again captaining Royal Challengers Bangalore due to an injury to regular skipper Faf du Plessis, scored his fifth half-century of the season in 33 balls, leading the charge in a run-chase of 201. Courtesy of the opener’s knock, RCB were well-placed at 113-3 after 11.2 overs, before Mahipal Lomror fell to Varun Chakravarthy. Kohli was the next man to fall, five balls later, to Andre Russell, a dismissal which led to plenty of reactions from the batter.

The first ball of the 13th over was an authoritative shot, which looked like it was heading towards the fence. However, Kohli did not account for Venkatesh, who ran to his left, dived low in front and managed to grab it safely with both hands, leaving the batter in anguish. Kohli was seen violently punching his bat with his glove and hitting the ground with his bat before he walked away for a 37-ball 54. “Such agility, such athleticism,” praised Harsha Bhogle on commentary.
