he IPL 2023 auction shortlisted player list has been announced. A total of 405 cricketers will go under the hammer, of which 132 are overseas, including 21 Australians. Below is the full list of the players from Australia with their base prices.
The IPL 2023 auction will be held in Kochi on December 23, 2022, from 2.30pm IST. Of the 132 overseas cricketers this time, 21 are from Australia – a count exceeded by only England (27) and South Africa (22). Of them, three – Cam Green, Travis Head, and Chris Lynn – have set themselves a base price of INR 2 crore – the highest in the auction.
The list includes five uncapped cricketers – Lance Morris (who may play Test cricket before the auctions), Hayden Kerr, Jack Prestwidge, Peter Hatzoglou, and Nathan McAndrew. Barring Morris, who is at INR 30 lakh, the others have the minimum price tag, of INR 20 lakh.
Barring the five, two others – Green and Ben McDermott – do not have IPL experience, while Head, Lynn, Jhye Richardson, Adam Zampa, Moises Henriques, Josh Phillippe, and D’Arcy Short did not get a match in IPL 2022. Henriques’ is a curious case, for he has played for five franchises till date – Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals), Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings.
In 2022, Riley Meredith and Daniel Sams played for Mumbai Indians, Sean Abbott for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Nathan Coulter-Nile for Rajasthan Royals, and Andrew Tye for Lucknow Super Giants.
