The hosts come into the series off the back of an impressive 3-0 ODI win over Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli looked to be back to his best in the series as he hit two hundreds to move within touching distance of Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 tons in the format.
India’s third win was particularly convincing as they won by a huge 317 runs, following hundreds from Kohli and Shubman Gill, as Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 73 (the biggest margin of loss in the history of ODI cricket).
They will go into the New Zealand series without Shreyas Iyer, who scored 724 ODI runs at 56 in 2022, after the 28-year-old picked up a back injury. Rajat Patidar has been named his replacement.
Tom Latham’s side come into the series as the number one ranked ODI side in the World after a 2-1 series win over Pakistan earlier this month, but will face a tough test against an in-form India side.
Devon Conway will be one of the players to watch for the visitors after winning the Player of the Series award against Pakistan, following a hundred and a fifty.
