Watch: Arshdeep Singh bowled three successive no-balls during the second T20I against Sri Lanka, with the third of those being dispatched over long leg for six by Kusal Mendis.

The India pacer, who was returning to the XI after missing the opening game, started well, conceding five runs off his first five balls. But somehow, the over ended up costing 19 runs.

Arshdeep overstepped for the first time on what should have been the final ball of the over. The resulting free hit was smashed through backward square leg for four by Mendis. Arshdeep’s misery, though, did not end there, with that delivery also being called a no-ball. The next ball was clattered over the long leg fence by Mendis. Arshdeep overstepped yet again, and while he forced Mendis to mistime the final free hit, he ended up conceding 14 runs off one legal delivery by then.

That over allowed Sri Lanka to build up momentum at the start. They scored 55 runs in the powerplay, with Mendis in particular, making merry. India, though, clawed back in the middle overs, picking up four wickets in close succession, only for Dasun Shanaka to produce a monumental assault and propel Sri Lanka to 206. Arshedeep overstepped on two more occasions, with Umran Malik and Shivam Mavi also infringing in a profligate display with the ball.
