Watch: Mohammed Siraj produced a brilliant spell early on day one of the fourth Test, setting up Joe Root with a brilliant few balls before dismissing him with the first delivery of the following over.
With all the focus on the spinners, Mohammed Siraj, brought in as India’s sole change in the playing XI, made a major impact on proceedings early on with the wicket of England skipper Joe Root. Siraj set Root up with a succession of deliveries that moved away from Root, before getting one to swing and seam back into him.
The one that came back in surprised Root and hit him on the thigh. Notably, none of the previous deliveries would have gone on to hit the stumps. Off the first ball of his next over, Siraj bowled a fuller one that swung back into Root, deviated further off the wicket, trapping him in front.
