Dom Bess picked up the vital breakthrough of India skipper Virat Kohli early in the afternoon session on day three of the first India-England Test at Chennai.

Bess, the young English spinner whose place in the side was under threat from Moeen Ali going into the series opener, accounted for Kohli with a dipping off-break that induced an inside edge that was well caught by Ollie Pope at short-leg.
