Ben Stokes 99 apologises

Watch: Ben Stokes was seen saying “sorry” to the heavens after getting dismissed on 99 in the second ODI against India.

Three days after Krunal Pandya’s touching tribute to his father on debut, Stokes seemed to feel the same emotion in the second game in Pune. Stokes, like Krunal, lost his father not long ago, and he has paid tribute to him mid-match before.

The England all-rounder played an excellent knock on Friday, helping them chase down a 337-run target set by India. He however got out painfully close to a century, falling one run short, after blitzing his way from 50 to 99 in 11 balls.

Hundred or not, his knock proved to be vital in England’s thumping six-wicket victory.
