Archer managed a right elbow problem over the course of the T20I series, with its deterioration ruling him out of the 50-over contests. The ECB has said that he will now return home to manage the problem, with the Rajasthan Royals quick now to miss the start of the IPL.
Three additional players will travel with England’s ODI squad: Dawid Malan, Chris Jordan and Jake Ball. Liam Livingstone is the only player in the squad yet to be capped in ODIs.
The series will be England’s first ODI assignment since they were defeated 2-1 at home by Australia last summer. The first ODI will take place on March 23, with the three-match series wrapped up on March 28.
