India built on their 126-run first-innings lead on the fourth day of the third Test of the five-match series, at Rajkot. Having retired hurt the previous day on 104, Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to slam a double hundred, while debutant Sarfaraz Khan got his second fifty of the match.
Jaiswal and Sarfaraz had both passed their respective landmarks when drinks were called, with the score on 412-4. For some reason, England openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley sprinted up the stairs towards the pavilion, and Jaiswal and Sarfaraz followed them.
Exactly why all four of them had assumed a declaration is unclear, but the other England cricketers stayed put. From the pavilion, Rohit gestured at Jaiswal and Sarfaraz to stay put.
Sarfraz hit two sixes and a four in the next over, bowled by Rehan Ahmed, and Rohit declared immediately, with Jaiswal on 214 and Sarfaraz on 68. Chasing 557, England collapsed to 122 all out.
