England began their second innings with a lead of 46 after Dhruv Jurel took India past 300. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett started well for England before R Ashwin took two wickets off consecutive balls in the fifth over to reduce the visitors to 19-2, bringing Joe Root to the crease.
Root partnered Crawley to keep the scoreboard ticking and take the game away from India’s reach one run at a time. Batting on 11 off 33, Root looked composed and was starting to look comfortable when Ashwin struck for the third time.
Bowling from around the wicket, a full delivery on leg stump beat Root’s inside edge prompting India to go up for a loud appeal. Kumar Dharamsena didn’t give it out on the field, forcing India to take a review.
As the first replays showed up on the big screen, many thought it would either clip or miss the leg stump. However, ball tracking showed the impact to be in line and the ball to be hitting the leg stump, meaning Root had to make the long walk back.
