Watch: Kuldeep Yadav bowled Zak Crawley through the gate with a sharply turning delivery to end his resistance after Lunch on Day One in Dharamshala.

Crawley had battled hard through the morning session, surviving a dangerous period by India’s seamers early on. He also survived two reviews off Kuldeep earlier on in the day, reaching his half-century by driving Kuldeep for four. He went into Lunch unbeaten on 61 off 71 balls.

Kuldeep looked even more threatening to Crawley after the break, beating him on both edges and producing several half chances before finally getting him. He bowled a flighted delivery which Crawley looked to hammer down the ground. He was beaten all ends up, the ball going through the gap between bat and pad and thudding into the stumps.

The wicket ended Crawley’s innings for his fourth score between 50 and 80 of the series. It was his third score of 70 plus and his highest score of the series so far (79). While his starts have been a significant contribution to what success England have had with the bat in the series, he has yet to notch a defining three-figure knock.

It was Kuldeep’s third wicket of the day having got both Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope in the morning session, and started a dramatic collapse for England. Jonny Bairstow nicked Kuldeep behind several overs later, before Jadeja trapped Root in the following over. Kuldeep then made it three England wickets for no score by getting Ben Stokes lbw, meaning England had gone from 175-3 to 175-6.
