Ravindra Jadeja injured his hamstring during the 1st Test vs England and has now checked into the NCA
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Ravindra Jadeja has moved to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) following his hamstring injury that ruled him out of the second India-England Test — here are the latest injury updates on the all-rounder.

Jadeja picked up five wickets in the first Test against England in Hyderabad, scoring 87 and 2 in the two innings. He was run out in the second innings after a direct throw from Ben Stokes and was seen clutching his hamstring soon after as he walked back to the pavilion.

As questions remained over the participation of Jadeja in the remainder of the series, the BCCI announced he would be unfit to play the second Test in Visakhapatnam from February 2. Jadeja was one of two India players to be ruled out of the game, with KL Rahul missing out due to injury as well.

India have named Washington Sundar, Sourabh Kumar and Sarfaraz Khan as replacements.

Ravindra Jadeja latest injury update

January 30: Jadeja has checked into the NCA for rehab, with the all-rounder sharing the update on his social media handle. He posted a picture of the NCA along with the caption, “Home for the next few days.”

There is no update on when Jadeja could return or if he will play a part in the remaining three games. However, reports suggest he is unlikely to return against England.

Ravindra Jadeja’s past injuries

Jadeja has been hampered by injuries in the recent past. He first suffered a knee injury during the New Zealand Test series in 2021 that also ruled him out of the tour to South Africa that year. It also made him miss the home series against West Indies.

Midway through the 2022 IPL, Jadeja suffered a rib injury, forcing him to miss the second half of the league.

During the 2022 Asia Cup, Jadeja suffered another knee injury, which saw him miss the T20 World Cup in Australia. He underwent surgery, which kept him out of the game for five months.
