Watch: During the third Test match between India and Australia, Usman Khawaja took a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss a dangerous-looking Shreyas Iyer.

Having conceded a first-innings lead of 88, India were in trouble in the second innings at 79-4 at tea on the second day, with Cheteshwar Pujara on 36 and Iyer yet to score.

Pujara flicked Matt Kuhnemann for four soon after tea, and picked up a single. Iyer lofted the next ball into the stands over mid-wicket – his first scoring shot of the innings – to put India into the lead.

In the next over, off Nathan Lyon, Iyer was undone by bounce, but the ball raced to the fine-leg boundary. The next ball took a thick edge and ran to the boundary past deep third.

In no mood to be deterred, Iyer then pulled Kuhnemann to the mid-wicket boundary. When Kuhnemann bowled short again, Iyer responded with a six over mid-wicket. Having not scored off the first 10 balls he had faced, Iyer had now got 25 off the next 13, and was looking ominous.

After another over from Lyon, Steve Smith replaced Kuhnemann with Mitchell Starc. The second ball of the over was pitched up, on leg and middle, and Iyer flicked to the left of Khawaja at short mid-wicket.

Unfortunately for Iyer, he had hit it uppishly, and Khawaja pounced towards his left to take the catch with both hands, and ensured the ball did not spill out upon impact with the ground.

Iyer waited as the decision was referred to TV umpire Richard Kettleborough, albeit with the soft signal of ‘out’. The television cameras confirmed that the catch was indeed clean.
