England found a new way to pepper Kohli’s weak zone, this time using the left-arm pace of Sam Curran to angle the ball away from the right hander from over the wicket. With his natural angle being into the right hander, Curran got the ball to straighten off the seam as Kohli, feeling for the ball all the way to fourth stump, edged it to the wicketkeeper. According to CricViz, it was “the fourth widest” delivery Kohli had faced and the second widest he played at.
The ball which dismissed Virat Kohli was the fourth widest he faced, and the second widest he played at. Drawn in by the angle across him, Kohli didn’t need to play – and paid the price.

Credit should go to Sam Curran too for the perfect setup. The left-arm quick had swung the previous delivery from off and middle stump back into Kohli and then invited him for a drive with a wider one angling further away from outside his fourth stump.
