England India Dream11 tips for Headingley
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

England take on India in the third Test of the series at Headingley – here’s the preview, probable XIs, pitch conditions and Dream11 tips.

England v India: Preview and team news

India produced a rousing performance at Lord’s to go 1-0 up in the series and have their tails up as they head to Leeds for the third Test in the series. England seem to be in panic mode already with two of their top three dropped from the squad for the third Test. They have another forced change with Mark Wood ruled out due to injury. Their selection is far from straightforward.

India, on the other hand, appear set to play the same XI as at Lord’s. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, the two men under the pump, looked in good touch while Mohammed Siraj nailed down the fourth seamer’s spot with a stellar display on day five at Lord’s to win India the Test.

England v India Headingley Test: Dream 11 fantasy tips and pointers

  • Joe Root and Jasprit Bumrah top the batting and bowling charts so far in this series, and everything from the last two Test matches suggest that the trend would continue here. They are safe captaincy choices.
  • Jonny Bairstow, despite the debate around his selection, has been England’s second-best batter, both in terms of runs scored and the assurance he displays at the crease. He and Moeen, who bowled a tidy spell at Lord’s and is still the only spinner in the wickets chart this series, are others from the England batting and all-rounders pool that can be picked.
  • KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma are India’s highest scorers this series, and have forged a formidable partnership at the top. While Headingley will pose a tough challenge, the two are expected to continue their good run.
  • James Anderson and Ollie Robinson have been the pick among England quicks and should be in your team.
  • It’s trickier choosing three of India’s four quicks, but on current form, Bumrah, Siraj and Ishant should be a good combination to stick to.
