During an engaging passage of play on day five of the England-India Lord’s Test, Jasprit Bumrah and Jos Buttler were involved in animated exchanges before the on-field umpires intervened.

Bumrah and Mohammed Shami turned out to be unlikely batting heroes for India on the morning of day five, stitching together a vital partnership to take India’s lead past 200.

As the lower order mounted on the runs, chatter between the two sides intensified. At the end of the 92nd over, Bumrah was seen exchanging words with wicketkeeper Buttler. As the two passed each other to exchange ends at the end of the over, Bumrah was heard saying “I wasn’t the one complaining to bowl slow…”

On the third evening of the match, James Anderson and Bumrah were involved in an absorbing tussle during England’s innings, with Bumrah continuously peppering their No.11 with short-pitched deliveries. When Anderson’s dismissal signalled the end of the day’s play, he walked back alongside Bumrah, and had a few things to say to the India seamer.

As England tried to attack India’s ninth-wicket pair on the morning of day five, the chatter between players from either side intensified. The on-field umpires Michael Gough and Richard Illingworth tried to keep Bumrah in check  – Illingworth was even seen asking Shami to calm down, gesturing with a zipper motion across his mouth.

After Bumrah scythed Mark Wood for a four through the covers, the cameras capturing an animated Virat Kohli celebrating from the Lord’s balcony.
