Having won the toss and elected to bowl, India got off to the dream start as they dismissed Jason Roy, Joe Root and Ben Stokes all for ducks inside the first three overs.
Whilst Jasprit Bumrah took the wickets of Roy and Root, it was Mohammed Shami from the other end who got rid of Stokes with a fantastic delivery that swung and seamed in and took the inside edge of the England Test captain’s bat.
The wicket was made all the more impressive thanks to a nonchalant one-handed catch by Rishabh Pant, who, diving to his right, reached just above his shoulder and made a difficult catch look easy.
India’s fantastic start would only go on to get better, as Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone would also fall within the powerplay as England slumped to 26-5 by the end of the eighth over.
Watch Shami get Stokes with an inswinging beauty:
A dream start for India.
